home. about our campaign.

Welcome to the takeITon campaign, led by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to promote business success in the East of England through the use of IT.

EEDA is taking the lead on the delivery of this region-wide awareness campaign to highlight to businesses the opportunities and benefits for IT adoption.

Through goal seven of the regional economic strategy, EEDA is committed to the development of a leading information society. In order to examine more closely how it could deliver on this goal, EEDA commissioned a multi-consultancy report to examine and identify priorities in the region for improvement of IT skills and infrastructure among the business community.

Areas highlighted by the report included:

  • raising awareness of opportunities and benefits to businesses of IT adoption and signpost to appropriate forms of support.
  • providing 'light touch' business support to aid adoption.
  • providing 'intensive' business support where required to further encourage adoption.

Further to this and EEDA's recent Regeneris report, research carried out on behalf of EEDA found that one in three people in the East of England are put off doing business with an organisation due to poor information technology or IT.  Findings such as this reemphasised the need for better awareness in the region surrounding the crucial role IT has to play in the success, profitability and growth of businesses.

Through takeITon, EEDA is offering a £2.8 million package of support over three years - including five new specialist IT advisers through Business Link, to help businesses to diagnose the right IT applications for their needs.  EEDA will also be making a grant scheme available, again through Business Link to qualifying businesses, which will support adoption of IT applications to help improve the way people in the East of England do business.
